WALKER
This big Quarter Horse gelding was abandoned in McDowell County last year. He arrived very much under weight, but has caught back up and is ready to find a permanent home.
He has some very subtle arthritis in his left hind, but that isn't enough to keep him from being ready to hit the trail. He doesn't like having a bit in his mouth, so he will need to be ridden with a hackamore.
Walker is easy going with other horses, curious about cows, and is learning to get along with dogs. He is a very social guy as well. He will come to you when called and loves attention. He stands wonderfully for grooming, lifts his feet and ties fine. Actually, we have been leaving the lead rope on the ground and he stays put being ground tied.
Walker has been trained to ride but needs a refresher course and would therefore be best suited to an experienced horse person. He responds best to a calm, gentle, yet firm hand. He doesn't get frustrated easily which is wonderful when your training him. His ground manners are improving incredibly in the short time he's been worked with.
